Beaumont, CA - On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at approximately 6:32 p.m., officers responded to a business in the area of 6th Street and Beaumont Avenue. Witnesses reported seeing someone being chased by a subject with a gun. When officers arrived they contacted the victim who reported that he had gotten into a dispute with his girlfriend. The girlfriend had asked the victim to stop at the business and while there flagged down another male subject, who she was in a romantic relationship with. The victim and the other subject began to argue and the subject pulled out a gun and began chasing the victim. The suspect ultimately returned to his vehicle and fled the area before officers arrived.
Several hours later, at approximately 12:08 a.m., officers were in the same area on routine patrol and were flagged down by a victim who reported his vehicle had been taken, while stopped at a gas station. As officers were speaking with the victim, the victim’s vehicle was seen leaving the area towards Palm Avenue and 5th Street. Officers followed the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop and engaged officers in a pursuit. The pursuit proceeded through areas of Redlands and into the City of San Bernardino, where the vehicle became disabled after hitting a curb.
Officers contacted the driver and passenger, who were the same victim and girlfriend involved in the earlier dispute. The male and female were arrested and transported to Smith Correctional Facility, in Banning, to be booked on charges of being in possession of a stolen vehicle, evading officers and various traffic violations.
